West Ham face anxious wait over Valencia fitness

first_img1 Enner Valencia West Ham star Enner Valencia will have a scan on Monday to assess the damage to a foot injury he sustained against Stoke on Saturday. The striker had only just returned to first-team action following a spell on the sidelines after he suffered a freak injury at home when he cut his toe on a broken cup.But the Ecuador international suffered more agony on Saturday when he was forced to leave the field after picking up a foot injury during the 1-1 draw at Upton Park. With fellow striker Diafra Sakho also undergoing a scan on a thigh injury to determine if he will be ruled out for the rest of the season, manager Sam Allardyce will be praying he gets good news on Valencia’s fitness.Valencia, speaking on the club’s official website, said: “I don’t know yet how serious it is, as they are going to run a scan on Monday. “It was not done on purpose a Stoke player stepped backwards and onto my foot. I think I have a little bit of an injury on my foot, but we have to run a scan on Monday to be sure.”last_img read more
